California law enforcement and the Los Angeles Regional Human Trafficking Task Force arrested hundreds of men, and rescued dozens of sex trafficking victims during the third annual “Operation Reclaim and Rebuild” initiative. More than 30 federal state and local law enforcement agencies and task forces participated in the three-day effort to combat human trafficking across the state.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, “Operation Reclaim and Rebuild focused on rescuing victims of sexual slavery and human trafficking, providing victims with much-needed services, identifying and arresting their captors, seeking successful prosecutions, and disrupting the demand for vulnerable victims by targeting their customers.” The goal was also to reclaim and rebuild the neighborhoods where organized prostitution schemes are exploiting people and contributing to other criminal activity.

This highly successful endeavor resulted in the recovery of 28 minors and 27 adult victims of commercial sexual exploitation, who will continue to receive support services. There were 142 buyers arrested, and 36 men arrested for pimping.
